Founded in 1990, Arche Noah maintains one of the largest private collections of cultivated plants in Europe with over 5,500 rare vegetable and cereal varieties, as well as extensive collections of fruit trees, potatoes and berries. The organization works with a network of over 150 seed keepers, organizes seed exchanges, trainings and campaigns to bring traditional varieties back to gardens and the market, while also fighting for better policy conditions for seed diversity.

Semi Rural Network

The collaboration with the Italian Rete Semi Rurali strengthens PoleRani’s efforts for dynamic management of agrobiodiversity. Created in 2007, this network brings together around 30-32 organizations and supports farmers in the conservation and development of local varieties through participatory propagation, community seed banks and research. Rete Semi Rurali maintains a collection of hundreds of old cereal varieties, organizes training, seminars and exchange of experiences, and actively advocates for policies that allow farmers to retain control over their seeds and develop sustainable organic farming.

ProSpecieRara

The Swiss foundation ProSpecieRara is a key partner of PoleRani in the conservation of endangered plant and animal varieties. ProSpecieRara promotes on-farm conservation, organizes seed propagation courses, sponsorship programs and a brand for products from rare varieties, advocating for open access to genetic resources.

Aegilops

The partnership with the Greek organization Aegilops supports PoleRani in strengthening local seed systems and organic farming. The organization develops regional focal points for seed conservation, organizes „seed schools“, trainings and seed production, aiming to restore traditional varieties in modern practice and protect farmers’ rights to agrobiodiversity.

Arche Noah PoleRani partners with the Austrian organization Arche Noah, which is one of the leaders in Europe in the field of preserving cultural plant diversity.
